“Holding onto anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.” ~ Buddha
The negative energy of anger – experienced at slight or even extreme levels – tends to cloud the mind and create confusion in us, and can also greatly affect the quality of joy, ease, and peace in our lives. Sometimes, our ongoing anger can literally make us sick.
During this silent meditation retreat, we’ll be exploring how we can work with our minds, bodies, and hearts to help us cool the flames of anger within us, and cultivate more patience, kindness, joy, and ease.
We’ll be gathering for our retreat on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m in the peaceful, spacious, modern blue sanctuary of the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Shenandoah Valley, 6380 Valley Pike, Stephens City, VA. The quiet church grounds include open spaces and beautiful walking trails in the woods.
The format will include both guided and silent meditation, a dharma talk, and walking meditation both inside the sanctuary, and outside on the beautiful grounds. The silence will end at 4 p.m., and we’ll finish with a half-hour dedicated to questions.
Please note: Meditation experience is recommended, but not required. Comfy chairs are provided. Not recommended for those under age 18.
Registration for this meditation retreat is $65. Late registration is unavailable the day of retreat. Once you’ve registered, you’ll receive detailed instructions, suggestions, directions, and a short form to fill out.
If you aren’t able to attend the retreat and need to cancel, we offer a 65% refund, or … you can choose to be a guest at a future daylong retreat within the next year.
